I know it sounds very good, but since I stopped going to the gym, I lost 5 pounds. and found my biceps. Let me explain.
About a year ago, my husband and I joined Bally Total Fitness our local. Like most gym owners are booming, we "Gung-ho from the get-go, and in our enthusiasm we have paid in advance for a period of three years with a coach. The coach was nice enough, Pert and cheerful and very encouraging, and gym was filled with machines and equipment that we used. But the novelty of gym rats quickly dissipated, and we apologize for not going: it is very to drive away, tonight we are very busy, there's a new episode of the Office (not to mention the DVR). After six months, our membership cards have lost somewhere under the car seats or gym bags stuffed with forgotten in the back of the closet. Then something funny. Bally's suddenly and without ceremonies closed its Salt Lake location. And boy, we were crazy! How are we supposed to get in shape now? Where can I go to the treadmill elliptical and weight machines all on the same training? And the money we pay?
Well, we finished our money, but we were still gymless earlier this year when my brother called my sister-in-law with a Wii Fit for her birthday. She convinced me to try some of the balance games and then only a few tests, I was completely hooked. I started giving advice at home. When I opened my Wii Fit for my birthday a few months, I was happy to jump, and I have not stopped using since.
It seems I'm not alone. According to the U.S. News and World Report, the new generation of interactive video games lies much of the old bed of potatoes moving. When the game used to involve huge amounts of time sitting in his Keister with a joystick in his hand and a bag of cookies in the vicinity, is now involved to simulate the activity on the screen. Even the elderly are increasingly active since it was introduced to bowling video game. And I've lost track of many friends and acquaintances on Facebook tweeting or posting cancellation of their gym memberships for all assets.
But let's face it: the average of less-than-human age of retirement is to deceive hula hoop or head-butt soccer balls on a screen? Probably not, if that is all he has done. In my case, I use Wii Fit Yoga and the strength of the activities to complete my two or three times weekly schedule of jogging. And it's working! The thing is is fun, and competition with another person using the system (in this case, my husband) is very addictive, I find myself logging more time "working on" I've never been in a gym. I did not take my car. No need to worry about child care for my daughter for two years. Not even find a good place to take in indeed, have been known to float and pump in my pajamas.
But beware: even if the set of assets is a great way to build muscle, burn calories and improve balance, this is not an exact replacement reality. Consider a story my aunt told me this week. Her teenage son works at a camp scout in the summer. Recently there was an explorer of young people come to him to do his "swim check. The girl asked the boy if he swim and the boy said yes he could. With this, he plunged into the water and quickly began to panic. The boy jumped in and saved the child, but requested a response when he reached the shore.
"I thought you said that you can swim?" He asked.
The child, innocent and seriously replied, "I thought I could, I made the Olympic pool on my Wii all day!"
In other words, keep your game console, but not throw the Waterwings yet.
