Is it acceptable to do bodyweight exercises after strength training?

5.7 I like to do reps with heavy weights in the gym once every 2 days. However, I also have muscle endurance and some people say you can do weight bearing exercise without having to worry about training problems. Is this true? Then I fell asleep one day and do push-ups the next day? Is it effective for strength and endurance, or is that it leaves sufficient healing time?
